Yin Yoga is a gentle and meditative yoga style to relax in the present moment and restore the body, mind, and emotions.
Unlike the more dynamic styles of yoga as in Vinyasa or Ashtanga Yoga, the goal of Yin Yoga is not to strengthen or engage the muscles, but to relax them.
The postures (Asanas) are completely passive, they are held for a much longer time 1-5 min and the muscles go into the background, which allows us to feel the body more deeply, maintain attention, and manage well how far we go in each asana. This makes many times, suddenly, connected with Pranayama and the relationship of the muscle, you get to experience the magic of the yoga practice. The main benefits, you will feel lighter and more flexible (hydrated) with an overall feeling of well-being.
